My Relationship with Media

First of all, what is media? Media is the means of communication, such as radio and television, newspapers, the internet, and magazines, that reach or influence people widely. I, like many others, am exposed to media daily. After all, we live in a world where we are surrounded by media: I see it on YouTube, in the mail, in magazines, on TV, at school, and on virtually every online platform. It's also in social media, although I personally don't have any.
Currently, I have a love-hate relationship with media. I enjoy watching You-Tube in my spare time (which is very minimal) and I listen to the music on the radio when I'm in the car. Although there are great benefits to media, like entertainment and gaining new knowledge, media tends to suck me in and not let go. What I mean by that is sometimes I'll tell myself that I will take a 10 minute break on my phone to watch You-Tube, but then I have to get right back to whatever I was working on. However, this almost always turns into me being on my phone for double the time that I had originally intended. Media has an addicting effect - once you start something, it's hard to stop. That's why I hate media. But, I also love media because it is great source of information and entertainment.
At the moment, my relationship with media is a matter of me learning to be responsible with my use of it: I want to be able to enjoy it, but not waste all my precious time on it.
